Nudge designs implemented: How to push people to joyfulness
Too many businesses aren’t focusing on what’s good for them. In this article the interior designer, Bettina Therese, will explain how she’s trying to change that by using nudging to “push” people to a more efficient and joyful everyday working life. - How to get the surroundings to act as a partner and not as an opponent by implementing nudge designs.

I’m totally obsessed by the fact that you are able to make your everyday practice so much easier. Martin Thorborg, being good at simplifying things, put’s it this way: “Nudging is to design the world around you so that it “works” in the best possible way – in the way you want people to use it. It’s stupid doing stupid things.”
You’ve properly met several definitions on nudging. And on it’s way becoming the new buzzword - it’s understandable. I will leave it to the theoretical experts to define and just give examples on how I use nudging as part of my job as an interior designer:
And now to some examples:
The Mobile phone Nursery:
At a lawyer’s office I observed frustration at an internal meeting. Some of the participants were not “present” – giving attention to their mobile phones instead of taking part in the meeting. I was to design the interior of their new meeting rooms – and I decided to develop a wall decoration with integrated holders for mobile phones, which I called ''Mobile phone nursery.''
And now the mediator of any meetings starts placing his own mobile phone on the wall decoration – at the same time sending out a signal of him not wanting to get distracted during the meeting. Hopefully the others follow his example – either placing their phones on the holders or at least turning their phones off.
The Route to Employment:
At the job center in Kolding I designed a new café environment. With colors supporting the users of the place – making it a comfortable setting.
